Adel (also spelled Adil, Arabic: عادل‎) is an Arabic male name that is derived from the Arabic word "Adl" (Arabic: عدل‎) which means fairness and justice. It is commonly used in Muslim countries, and sometimes used by Coptic Christians throughout the Middle East. It is not to be confused with the similar female name Adele (also spelled Adelle), which has a different pronunciation, although rarely it may appear without the "e" on the end.
